About Us

The Washington Indeterminate Sentence Review Board (ISRB or Board) is made up of five members. Members are appointed by the Governor to serve five year terms. The Governor names one of the Board Members as Chair.

In addition, ISRB staff support the work of the Board.

  1. The Executive Director is responsible for day-to-day administration of the agency.
  2. The Executive Assistant serves as a member of the ISRB Executive Management Team by providing executive level administrative support to the Indeterminate Sentence Review Board (ISRB) Chair, members and Executive Director.
  3. Correctional records staff, hearings officers and examiners, victim services staff, and planning, research, and information technology staff make up the remaining ISRB work force.

The Board makes decisions about releasing certain groups of offenders from prison. Once these offenders are on supervision in the community, the ISRB takes action if they break rules of supervision.

Before making decisions, the ISRB conducts a thorough analysis of an offender’s crime, past and present behavior, and possible risks. This helps the Board protect the public in view of proper uses of public resources.

The Board works closely with partner agencies, such as the Department of Corrections. Working relationships are described on the hearings pages of this web site.

The Board also pays attention to victims’ concerns. There a several ways victims of crime and their families may give the Board information. These are described on the victim services pages of this web site.

If you have questions about the ISRB, we hope they will be answered in this web site. If not, feel free to contact us. You can email us at isrb@doc.wa.gov
